SELANK care field guide A guide to care

Prepare · find the right conversation

Find care for the problem behind the search.

Begin by naming the concern you want care to address. A useful first conversation can explore that concern and the choices around it, without starting from a product request.

Choose how to talk

Telehealth means a visit from elsewhere, through a screen, phone, or an online exchange.

You can look for care by phone or online, or at an in-person clinic. Ask whether the visit will help work out what is causing your concern.

Ask who will provide your care

Ask your doctor or other licensed health professional for their full name. Ask what their job is and which licence covers your visit.

The licence records that person’s official permission to practise.

Match the visit to your location

The guidance checked September 26, 2026 says doctors need a licence or other medical board permission for the state where the patient is during a visit. Your location matters, not just the doctor’s office address.

This guidance is advice for states; each state sets its own rules.

If the doctor relies on permission other than a licence, ask what it is and how to check it with that state’s medical board.

Use the board’s own record

Public records from a state medical board list doctors’ licences and any actions taken for breaking professional rules.

The Federation of State Medical Boards has a list of links to these boards.

A note to keep

Know what a clear record means

A doctor’s record with no public action against them does not show how well they care for patients.

Different kinds of doctors may have different state boards. Check the board that handles that doctor’s licence.

If the person providing care is not a doctor, ask for the name and website of the state office that checks their licence. Ask for a link to their official licence record.

Look for room to ask and explain

Ask how they will work out what is wrong

Will there be time to explain the problem and answer follow-up questions?

Ask about options beyond Selank

For anxiety, a useful question is which tested treatments have been considered.

Ask who makes any proposed medicine

Get the pharmacy’s name so its licence can be checked in state records.

Carry this forward

Before deciding on a visit, write down who will provide your care, how to check their licence, and how they will work out what is wrong.
