SELANK care field guide A guide to care

Understand · claims and permission

Approval takes more than a label.

If a page says Selank is allowed, ask what that statement rests on. A product name, a code, and an approval are different things.

Keep in view

The U.S. position

FDA is the U.S. medicines agency, formally called the Food and Drug Administration.

The records checked on September 30, 2026 show no FDA approval for a Selank medicine. There is no official U.S. medicine information sheet for it.

Understand the canceled request

The request was about pharmacy ingredients

The September 30, 2026 check found Selank in FDA’s list of canceled requests to allow ingredients for pharmacy-made medicines.

FDA calls the Selank ingredient in that list “Selank acetate.” The extra word is part of the ingredient’s chemical name, not an approval.

Individuals or groups had asked FDA to allow these ingredients, then took back their requests.

Canceling a request is not approval

Taking back the Selank request did not give FDA approval, and FDA still warns about possible harm.

FDA worries that clumps of Selank or unwanted material mixed with it could make the body treat it as an invader.

The entry does not name which ways of giving Selank this concern applies to.

Keep the date attached

The FDA page marks its content current as of April 22, 2026. The page does not give the date when the Selank request was canceled.

A note to keep

Understand the pharmacy question

Compounding means making medicine to meet a specific need, rather than using a ready-made product from a factory.

Federal law has a list of extra ingredients pharmacies may use to make medicines. Selank was not on it at the September 30, 2026 check.

FDA also groups ingredients while it considers requests to allow them. Selank was in none of those groups at that check.

Canceling a request does not let a pharmacy use Selank under the rules reviewed on September 26, 2026.

FDA has not published a plain statement of what canceling the Selank request means for pharmacies. A claim that this made it lawful to use needs an explanation of the rule being relied on.

Check the proof behind the words

A drug code is not approval

FDA keeps a list of products with identifying numbers called National Drug Codes, or NDCs. A number on that list is not proof of FDA approval.

The Selank entries checked September 30, 2026 were powders for making products, not medicines ready to take.

A foreign history does not settle U.S. status

In Russia, Selank had permission to be sold as a medicine for anxiety. Whether that permission was still in force was unclear at the September 30, 2026 check.

Ask for the exact basis

Ask which product and which rule the claim refers to. Bring that answer to your doctor or another licensed health professional rather than treating a badge as proof.

Carry this forward

When someone says “allowed,” ask for the exact product, the rule, and the date of the information.
